Phoenix takes Top Spot in the Belize Top 25 Resorts Report 2010!

The Phoenix Resort located in San Pedro takes the number one position from close runner up and last year’s winner The Lodge at Chaa Creek. The Phoenix outpointed Chaa Creek and Hopkin’s Hamanasi Resort by less than 1/100 of a point. Completing the top five Belize resorts were The Inn at Robert’s Grove and the report’s most improved Las Terrazas Resort, also on Amergris Caye.

The Belize Top 25 Resorts Report uses two equations to compute the final score. The first equation includes advertised pricing, Trip Advisor scores, star rating, luxury component, property condition and service levels. The second and equally weighted equation examines the “Belize Factor” of the resort including location, property amenities, tour offerings, owner and management participation and degree to which the experience is unique to Belize and not easily replicated in other Caribbean/ Central American destinations.

is an independent study of Belize's top resorts. The research is done by industry professionals with over 25 years of hotel experience and over 4 years experience in the Belize hospitality market.

Belize Resorts Top 25     is part of ongoing research in the Belize tourism sales and marketing sector and designed to supply tourism industry stakeholders with information, training and tools to increase Belize's visibility and encourage tourism growth and adaptation of new ideas and innovation.

The information for the study was gathered from independent industry websites, OTA sites, property websites, researcher visits and interviews. The criteria used included guest scores, comments, perceived service levels, property condition, room rates, tour activities, Trip Advisor and management/ owner involvement. The "Belize Factor" included management involvement with guest activities and how the resort created a unique Belize guest experience, so as to continue to create and strengthen Belize as a eco-tourism/ adventure destination.
