Third World Kitchen™ is a creative capitalism project being developed for the emerging tourism markets in Belize and Honduras. As envisioned by leading capitalists Microsoft’s Bill Gates and Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett, creative capitalism is a profit driven endeavor with social benefits, particularly in poor undeveloped countries. Third World Kitchen(TWK) will focus on developing the native workforce and creating sustainable, profitable restaurant/ bar operations while encouraging local food production and improved distribution. The existence of a growing tourism sector in both countries is the catalyst that creates the opportunity to embrace creative capitalism in which it is both profitable and necessary for the operator to invest resources/ profits in local markets, educational and social issues to continue tourism market growth and prevent stagnation or decline.
The limited number of trained native staff, scarce local food supply and an ineffective distribution system has served to limit the number of both free standing restaurants and destination resort restaurants. No chain or outside commercial interests have entered the market due to these obstacles, nor are there any immediate plans for future development. Third World Kitchen’s approach will be focusing on local economic development to improve product availability and restaurant visibility, recipe and menu redesign using locally sourced products and staff development and training.
We need professional people that want to live, teach and work in Belize and/or Honduras for 30 to 90 days. Positions needed are working chefs and restaurant managers.
